Filippo Colombo finished the World Cup in Albstadt in the hospital

Swiss rider Filippo Colombo is one of the riders we expected to see this year fighting for the top 5 of the World Cup, but his start seems like it couldn't have been worse. On Friday he failed to finish the Short Track and on Sunday he had to be evacuated to hospital after a fall in the race.

During Friday's race, the Absolute Absalon rider was unable to finish the short track due to a broken chain on his BMC, but on Sunday he had even worse luck when a fall sent him straight to the hospital.

In Germany, doctors confirmed that he had a broken pelvis and from there he has been transferred to Switzerland to receive a new diagnosis to confirm whether he is also suffering from a muscular problem.

"My World Cup season started bad Friday and continued much worse yesterday. I had a nasty crash and I ended my race in the hospital. Till now I know my left upper part of pelvis is broken, but I have to do some further analysis to understand the damages on the muscles. Luckily I don’t have to much pain.

Meanwhile, his teammates are already in Nove Mesto na Morave, Czech Republic, to take part in the second World Cup event of the season.
