New Pinarello Dogma F: even lighter and with disc brakes

About three weeks ago we reported some leaks that indicated that the bike was in the final stages of launch. Actually, seeing one of Pinarello's executives could be misleading, but when we saw Carapaz training with it, everything changed: this was serious.

Well, here it is. So without further delay, we'll tell you everything we know about the new Pinarello Dogma F.

Features and price of the Pinarello Dogma F

Ineos Grenadiers has a new bike for the 2021 Tour de France. It is called Pinarello Dogma F and it comes to replace its predecessor, the F12. Finally Pinarello has chosen not to continue adding to the list of even numbers, so no 14 at all, F is the only surname.

Pinarello has made it official and shared some interesting facts about the new Pinarello Dogma F. Firstly, the question of weight, an obsession of the Italian company. The Dogma F is 9% lighter than its predecessor, while the fork is 16% lighter. Without a doubt, when it seems impossible to improve on the issue of lightness in road bikes, they always surprise us.

But in addition, the whole assembly of the frame itself, which opts for the disc brake as we will discuss, is 21% lighter than the F12, and the scale needle stands at 265 grams. Undoubtedly, as we say, a real achievement in terms of weight reduction percentages.

You might think that all this is done in exchange for sacrificing stiffness, for lightening the thickness of the carbon layers, but nothing could be further from the truth: the new Pinarello Dogma F is 12% stiffer, mainly in the bottom bracket.

The second fundamental aspect is the leap to the disc brake. Some will say that it was about time, others that it was not done because of the reluctance of some ex-Ineos, especially Froome, but the fact is that the time has come and here it is: disc brakes in a version that is almost 5% more aerodynamic because of this small detail.

Obviously, Pinarello are not forgetful. They know that many riders still prefer the brake shoe, the rim brake, so there is also an option to mount it this way, whose aerodynamic improvement over the F12 is only 3.2%, slightly less.

Its weight, in medium size, with DT Swiss wheels and Dura-Ace Di2 derailleur is only 6.8 kilograms. It's a blast, no doubt about it.

And yet the information pack for the new Pinarello Dogma F states that they have put handling first, not weight. Well, thank goodness.

The redesign of the fork is certainly significant. It weighs 16% less and is based on two models they developed at the same time. They don't skimp when it comes to designing something new. In fact, these tweaks are also noticeable in the slightly thinner seat tube, a slimmer seatpost (with a titanium clamp), and a sharper, more sudden dropout of the upper chainstays. These seat stays are undoubtedly the big change at first glance, it's where you first look when comparing the Pinarello Dogma F with the F12.

All Torayca T1100 pure carbon with nano-alloy technology. What remains unchanged is the design of the handlebars, which are only slightly lighter.

In any case, we are looking forward to seeing how the Ineos riders, among whom Thomas seems to be the leader in this edition of the Tour, will be able to make the most of it.
