Mathias Fluckiger still dominates and wins the Les Gets Short Track

The Les Gets World Cup Short Track has left us one of the most intense races of this modality that we have seen this year. After a race with constant attacks Mathias Fluckiger took the victory.

Mathias Fluckiger wins the Short Track of Les Gets

The Short Track of the Les Gets World Cup started with an intense sprint that allowed New Zealander Anton Cooper to take the lead and impose a fairly high pace, but Nino Schurter also made a great start and protected well the second position although the front group was still very large.

The first to try was Mathias Flueckiger who already on the second lap launched a very hard attack with which it seemed that he was going to break the race but that finally faded with the same riders in the lead. British rider Tom Pidcock started a little bit behind but it took him 5 laps to gain positions and get into the top five with Ondrej Cink, Jordan Sarrou, Fluckiger and Nino Schurter.

Britain's Tom Pidcock suffered a crash on lap 7 when his front wheel touched Sarrou's rear wheel before a drop, knocking Pidcock out of contention for the podium.

On the penultimate lap, Ondrej Cink, Mathias Fluckiger and Jordan Sarrou looked the strongest, but only Flueckiger was able to open small gaps in the lead.

The last lap was the decisive one and Mathias Flueckiger was able to keep the lead with a great final effort that was enough to win the Short Track. Second was the French Jordan Sarrou and third was the Czech Ondrej Cink.

The Spanish David Valero finished 13th and the British rider Tom Pidcock finished in 15th position after his crash.
