Where and when to watch the Cape Epic 2021

The Absa Cape Epic was the first major mountain bike race to be cancelled due to the pandemic, but next Sunday it will start again 36 months after its last edition. The Cape Epic 2021 takes place from 17 to 24 October and here's where to watch it live.

Where to watch the Cape Epic 2021

The change of dates will bring new scenarios to the Cape Epic such as the cold and humidity that are expected for at least the prologue stage on Sunday 17. And the hardest stages are expected to be the first stage with its 98km, and the fifth with its 2,900 metres of elevation gain. Luckily, we will be able to watch it all live and free of charge.

The restrictions in force in South Africa will mean that the Absa Cape Epic 2021 will be held without an audience, but that does not mean that the race cannot be followed and watched live. It will be possible to do it from the daily online broadcasts that the organisation will do on YouTube and here we leave you the direct link of each stage so that you can watch it directly. Each broadcast will be activated at 08:30 in the morning, at the moment you can only see a trailer in each video.

Favourites to win the Cape Epic 2021

With the notable absence of the pairs formed by Nino Schurter and Lars Forster, the last winners, and Henrique Avancini and Manuel Fumic, the 2021 race is set to be one of the most open in recent years. Even so, there will be a large number of favourites at the start, including pairs such as Jordan Sarrou and Matthew Beers, or Alan Hatherly and Simon Andreassen in the men's race. In the women's field, the pairings of Sina Frei and Laura Stigger, and Amy McDougal and Jennie Stenerhag are the favourites.

Here you can read more about these and other participants who could be in the spotlight this year.
